History of The Bass Player

Since 2014 when the NZ based director, Julia Durkin, started to explore her family history in Japan, centered around the music her father played in the UK mod band, The Hipster Image, the story began to unfold.

Through hours of research, in Japan, on You Tube, and talking to her father, Tony, she began to put together a story of the song, Make Her Mine's success in Japan since 1999. The video diaries, interviews and photographs taken during the 6 years of production, 2014 - 2019, centered on her journey and exploration of how a unknown band from 1960's England had made an impact on the Japanese music scene.

During the research and making of the documentary new unreleased songs made by The Hipster Image were discovered featuring her father on bass guitar. These new songs are now available on digital platforms for everyone to enjoy.

The company was founded in 2019 in New Zealand.
